• Distilled white vinegar :disinfectant + descaler + antifungal
• Bicarbonate of soda: scrub + deodoriser + descaler when added to vinegar + heavy-duty degreaser
• Baking soda: scrub + deodoriser + heavy-duty degreaser :: *baking soda is simply a baked version of bicarbonate of soda
• Castile soap: surfactant – which means that it makes suds/bubbles
• Hydrogen peroxide or alcohol (disinfectants)

Some recipes advocate for citric acid, but, for most applications, this ingredient is largely superfluous.

*Bicarbonate of soda and distilled white vinegar are equally good for removing limescale, and have many other benefits.

There are also a good number of books on the subject of DIY green cleaning products. The recipes advocated by these will likely be more reliable than those offered up by the internet.

So, if you are comprehensibly committing to natural green cleaning products for keeping your home clean and inviting, then it’s probably best to invest in a book.

This will ensure you optimise your cleaning blends and keep things as simple and effective as possible.

Plus, the authors of DIY green cleaning recipes that are provided ‘in print’ are more accountable than those publishing on the internet. This means that the recipes found in books will tend to be more reliable and safe than those that appear fleetingly on the internet.

However, if you just want to make the odd green cleaning product, here’s a few key tips…

• Safety Note: Do not mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide together in the same bottle as it creates peracetic acid, which can be irritating.
• Storage: Only use glass spray bottles to prevent essential oils from degrading plastic.
• Usage: Always test cleaners on a small, hidden area first.

Adding Multipurpose Cleaning Essential Oil Blends To Cleaning Products

Surface Cleaners (including floor & bathroom etc)

*Add 1 drop of Cleaning Essential Oil Blend to every 10cl of cleaning fluid.

This is equivalent to:

• 100 drops of Cleaning Essential Oil Blend to 1L of cleaning fluid.
• 75 drops of Cleaning Essential Oil Blend to 750cl of cleaning fluid.

Laundry

*Add approximately 20 drops of Cleaning Essential Oil Blend to each wash, by following these instructions:

Add to laundry fluid or your powder rather than placing straight onto the items in your wash.

Do not place undiluted Cleaning Essential Oil Blends in the palstic drawer of your washing machine: Direct contact with the plastics of your washing machine may cause superficial damage to the surface of the plastics.

Cleaning Essential Oil Blends are very powerful in their undiluted form.

Dishwasher

*As with laundry, add approximately 20 drops of Cleaning Essential Oil Blend to each wash, by following these instructions:

Add to diswasher fluid or diswasher powder rather than placing the Cleaning Essential Oil Blend directly on to items in your wash.

Do not place undiluted Cleaning Essential Oil Blends on any of the palstic surfaces of your dishwasher, including the cleaning product compartment, and the plate racks, etc: Direct contact with the plastics in your dishwasher may cause superficial damage to the surface of the plastics.

Cleaning Essential Oil Blends are very powerful in their undiluted form.
