★ Wild Crafted Essential Oils
Wild Crafted Essential Oils are essential oils made from plants which have grown completely naturally in the wild. This means that naturally, self-seeded plants, which have grown to maturity, are used to make incredibly potent wild crafted essential oils.
Because freely grown plants select the most favourable conditions within which to grow, and because they have to build up their strength to defend against opportunistic insects and microbes, wild crafted essential oils are some of the most energetically and physical potent essential oils in the world.

How Can Wild As The Wind Wild Crafted Essential Oils Be Organic?
Surely a plant that’s grown in the wild can’t be covered by an organic certificate? Well… actually they can.
Currently, Wild As The Wind source most of our wildcrafted essential oils from a producer in Bulgaria, where there’s plenty of sunshine, an abundance of incredibly fertile soil, and an awful lot of ‘know how’!
This well loved producer works with a large number of individual artisans, some of which have even been introduced to them by Wild As The Wind, as we like to keep everything within the family. This makes good sense from a number of perspectives, not least when it comes to the delicate creation of a complex web of wildcrafted essential oil producers. There’s strength in numbers, and there’s expertise in sharing knowledge and there’s also economy in sharing resources.
Our preferred central producer has a state of the art distillery. This facility is required by the individual pickers in order to transform plant materials into essential oils. But this is not all. Our preferred Bulgarian producer also has stature and resources. It is in a very strong position to obtain ‘Organic Status’ for all of it’s products because it can afford the licenses and it also possesses the administrative capability to do so. This is how they describe the process…
All the plants we process, except Lavender, Rosa Damascena and Rosa Alba, are wild collected. They are organic because we comply with the requirements of our certification body, which determines from which areas we have the right to collect wild herbs. The most important requirement is that there’s a three kilometers radius around the collection sites away from any land which is treated with fertilizers and preparations. Then we apply for a permit from the municipality to collect herbs from a given area. We are then subject to numerous inspections by the certification body, and if all goes well, they certify the wildly harvested herbs as organic.
Wild As The Wind also source a small number of wildcrafted essential oils from hand-picked artisanal aromatherapy oil producers elsewhere in the world. Our Wildcrafted Plai Essential Oil and our Wild Crafted Palo Santo Essential Oil are two examples of these. As the Wildcrafted Plai Essential Oil and Wildcrafted Palo Santo Essential Oil are procured from producers in Thailand and Peru respectively. Both of these oils, whislt not organic, are however, produced ethically and sustainably.
Wild Crafted Essential Oils Have To Be Sustainable
Part of ‘Organic Status’ means being compliant from a sustainability standpoint. And, sustainability requires high level expertise!
Those involved in wild crafting essential oils, at any stage of the process, have to be patient and discerning. They also need to be moderate and take a balanced approach to their activities. To fail to do this would threaten the sustainability of the plants they need to make their products, which would in turn endanger the natural environments where they live as well as ensuring a premature end to their livelihood.
Because of the nature of the wild crafted essential oils business it is necessarily a cottage industry. This means that the people who work within this field need to be experts in good number of specialist fields:
- The preservation, protection and proliferation of a good number of plant species
- An excellent knowledge of the region within which they live and work
- A profound understanding of the interconnectedness of the animal kingdom and plant kingdom and the reliance both kingdoms have on the elements.
- The identification of plants growing in the wild, the discernment to tell which plants are ready to be harvested, to what extent, and in such a way as to ensure robust regrowth and an optimal chance of propagation.
*The speed at which the selection of plants is made and the collection of moderate amounts of plant materials are critically important. Done sensitively environmental sustainability will be assured, but so will the success of their endeavours.
Protecting The Supply Of Wild Crafted Essential Oils
Expert pickers only collect plant material from health plants, and then only a small amount of plant material is harvested form each plant to ensure perpetuity.
Only using small quantities of plant matter from each plant ensures the health of these plants is not compromised. Actually, the opposite is true. Wild crafting collection methods ensure plants become more robust, able to produce really healthy and copious new growth, which in turn leads to the propagation of lots of lovely new plants.
The parts of the plants needed to make essential oils, like the flowers or leaves, are thus selectively and sustainably picked by these expert pickers, so that the process of self-seeding and growing a new generation of plants continues. If plants were stripped of all of their flowers then the seeding process would not be able to take place.
★ Wild As The Wind Wild Crafted Essential Oils
★ Wild As The Wind Wild loves wild crafted essential oils! From an energetic standpoint wild crafted essential oils are hard to beat, but they are just more potent all round.
This means that less is more where wild crafted essential oils are concerned.
Because the production processes involved in making wild crafted essential oils are very labour intensive, the resultant products are more expensive than conventionally produced essential oils. Farmed plants are a lot more accessible. *Plants tend to be line grown within an arable setting.
Wild plants are anything but uniform in the way they grow, and they are encoded with a deep desire to project their seeds as far afield as possible. They also grown in curious shapes and sizes and so are easily mistaken for something else at a distance, especially to the untrained eye, and they have a canny knack of growing next to stinging, prickling and poisonous plants in an effort to keep you and ma at a very safe distance.
The expense of wild crafted essential oils is balanced out, however, by the fact they are so much more potent than other essential oils. This means smaller quantities of wild crafted essential oil does the same job as larger amounts of conventionally produced essential oils. So, the initial outlay is greater for wild crafted essential oils, but they will definitely last longer.

Wild Crafted Carrier Oils
It isn’t plausible to produce wildcrafted carrier oils at scale because of the sheer volume of plant material required for the making of them. Many carrier oils are made from the seeds of fruits and trees. These seeds must be extracted whole from the flesh of the fruit and dried. This adds two additional processes to the production of carrier oils, which would significantly drive up costs.
Add this to the fact that fruit bearing plants and trees, of the type required, are difficult to find in the wild, and do not necessarily grow in good proximity to each other. All of these factors would make the large scale production of wildcrafted carrier oils commercially unfeasible.
Nevertheless, Wild As The Wind are really pleased to say we are able to offer one wildcrafted carrier oils. It is a Wild Crafted Organic Rosehip Oil from Bulgaria.
This Wild Crafted Organic Rosehip Oil is made from rosehips which are gathered from the hedgerows of the organic estate where our Organic Rose Otto Essential Oil is produced. It is a nutrient rich, energetically charged, powerhouse of goodness. It is one of the incredible ingredients used in FACIAL OIL No. 2, the flagship product of Wild As The Wind.

Thank you Rachel for sending me the Thieves Oil and taking time to send the note along with my order. It is much appreciated in these difficult times. I will pass a bottle onto friends and family who have a lot of health issues at the moment. I love the smell of cinnamon and find the essence very calming and feel more protected when I go outside. I would recommend this oil to everyone at the moment.
Kind Regards

Hi Rachel
Just to let you know that I bought the Thieves Oil on the recommendation of our homeopath, who said it would help get rid of some toenail fungus on 3 of my toes. After trying many standard products, the Thieves Oil has made a marked difference after only a few weeks.
I bought a large bottle as it appeared to have extra! Can we use if for massage and other ailments?

Hi Gary,
I’m really glad to hear the Thieves Oil 2020 is doing the trick. I’m so pleased for you.
Thieves Oil 2020 is made with a 5% dilution of essential oils which is way too high for a massage oil. Plus, the essential oils used are not the ideal choice for a massage oil. This is mainly because Oregano Essential Oil is super strong and is much better used therapeutically for specific conditions.
The full usage instructions of Thieves Oil 2020 can be found here: https://wildasthewind.com/product/thieves-oil-2020/
Read more about Oregano Essential Oil here:

You would be wise to keep any remaining Thieves Oil 2020 in your first aid kit for cuts and scrapes, for gargling when you have sore throats or swishing when you have a tooth ache, or for applying around your nose and mouth when flying or in areas of high risk of infection.

I’d love it if you would leave this feedback on the actual product page where people can read it who are interested to learn more about what Thieves Oil 2020 can do. (Unfortunately, it’s unlikely they will spot what you have written at the end of the Wildcrafted Essential Oils article. You can learn how to leave feedback on the product page here: https://wildasthewind.com/write-a-review/
Thanks very much for letting me know that you’re having great results. Don’t stop until it has completely gone! And carry on for a little while longer even after you can’t see it any more. It goes into hiding! (I advise following the instructions for Oregano & Nigella Sativa Preparation as this is also used for toenail fungus. https://wildasthewind.com/product/oregano-nigella-sativa-preparation/ )
Thanks again.
All the very best,
