Description
Myrtle Essential Oil
Myrtle Essential Oil is a rousing aromatic oil with a pleasing earthy, herbaceous and camphorous scent, making it very helpful for respiratory issues, and fatigue / exhaustion.
Also known as Green Myrtle Essential Oil, this aromatherapy oil is widely used in perfumery.
This Green Myrtle Essential Oil is not to be confused with Red Myrtle Essential Oil, which share the same botanical name, (Myrtus communis). Whilst both essential oils share similar applications, this Green Myrtle Essential Oil contains considerably more a-Pinene, (monoterpene), than Red Myrtle Essential Oil. Conversely, Red Myrtle Essential Oil contains considerably more 1,8 Cineole (oxide) than Green Myrtle Essential Oil.
Green Myrtle also has a more significant percentage of myrtenyl acetate and linalool, compared to Red Myrtle’s higher percentage of 1,8-cineole, making it a particularly versatile oil and especially beneficial for the lungs.
Both Green and Red Myrtle Essential Oils share a light, fresh, uplifting aroma. However, Red Myrtle Essential Oil is more aromatically camphorous due to the higher 1,8 Cineole content.
