Description
Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil
Copaiba Essential Oil is also known as Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil.
Wild As The Wind Copaiba Essential Oil is one of the most potent Copaiba Balsam Essential Oils available.
The Beta-Caryophyllene, (BCP), content of the Wild As The Wind Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil is approximately 50%. The BCP content varies dramatically between differing Copaiba Essential Oils and ranges from as low as 25% all the way up to 50%.
The higher the BCP the more effective the Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil is.
Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil UK
Wild As The Wind is one of a very small number of companies selling Copaiba Essential Oil in the UK.
It provides an affordable alternative to CBD, often used for pain management, and Hemp Essential Oil, which is used for pain management, emotional and hormonal issues.
Copaiba Essential Oil exerts many of the same benefits as these other oils, but also has dental and skin applications.
According to the Journal of Dermatology & Skin Science:
The therapeutic benefits of copaiba oil-resin have encouraged its use in developing dermatological emulsions. Here, the anti-inflammatory, healing, antimicrobial, analgesic, and permeation-promoting properties of this medicinal oil are shown by reviewing articles from 2005 to 2021. Their properties encourage research to develop an herbal medicinal effective in treating skin diseases and cutaneous leishmaniasis… The anti-inflammatory, leishmanicidal, healing, antimicrobial, analgesic, and permeation-promoting properties of copaiba stimulate studies seeking the development of high-performance drugs to treat cutaneous leishmaniasis.

Copaiba Essential Oil Versus Hemp Essential Oil
Copaiba Aromatherapy Oil is very similar to Hemp Essential Oil in many ways, but it is a fraction of the cost. Both oils are thought to be anti-inflammatory.
Inflammation is the key symptom in autoimmune conditions, restricting movement and causing discomfort. It can also impair brain function.
Many people report similar benefits from using Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil as they do from using Hemp Essential Oil, but those with complex issues tend to gain more benefit from using Hemp Essential Oil.
Aromatically Copaiba Aromatherapy Oil is a lot less pungent than Hemp Essential Oil, so a lot of people prefer using Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil when taking it internally.
However, not everyone can tolerate taking Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil internally, and some of those than can prefer not to.
Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil Versus Cananga Essential Oil
This feedback, (originally submitted via the review section of the Cananga Essential Oil page), vouches for the efficacy of both aromatherapy oils, but defines the subtle differences. Sadly, it has been partly redacted, because current UK law does not permit claims that natural protocols are effective at relieving certain symptoms.
Cananga Essential Oil is a fantastic addition to the ‘Wild’ essential oil collection. It is very helpful for pxxn relief just like copaibia but with an uplifting mood effect as an added bonus for us.
The pxxn my wife suffers from is early osteoporosis and a frozen shoulder, I have a stiff hip that manifests after too much physical hard work.
My wife has really appreciated the massage oil, which has really aided her frozen shoulder, either made with 2 drops of copaibia essential oil or cananga essential oil. Both are as equally good as each other.
Also, when taken orally, 2 drops morning and night, we found that the copaibia essential oil is more calming emotionally whereas the cananga essential oil provides more of an up mood.
Thank you, again, Rachel
Amie, Dorchester, Dorset
Just like Cananga Essential Oil, Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil interacts with our Endocannabinoid system, pairing itself with the CB2 receptors located in our peripheral organs and immune system, particularly in the digestive track.
By contrast Hemp Essential Oil also interfaces with CB1 receptors which are mainly in the brain.
Nevertheless, Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil has been shown to positively affect mood and psychological conditions, along with a long list of other benefits. The real beauty of this aromatherapy oil is that it is so mild it is suitable for use with babies.

Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil Myths
Copaiba Aromatherapy Oil is often referred to as a magnifier or ‘driver’. It is thought that Copaiba Essential Oil will enhance the properties of other essential oils when they are used together. But, this is true of all essential oils. The potency of a blend of essential oils will always be more intense than the sum of it’s parts.
So, combining Copaiba Essential Oil with Sandalwood Essential Oil or Helichrysum Essential Oil may mean that a lesser amount of these expensive oils will be needed when compared to the larger amount required of these aromatherapy oils to achieve the same effect when they are being used on their own.
Customer Feedback:
I take this daily and is the most incredible mood stabilizer amongst many other things!
Christina, Somerset
I swear by your essential oils (and face oil No. 2). I have resolved all the issues with my baby using essential oils after none of the medications worked. If anything they made things worse. Only Copaiba helped my baby sleep. Nothing else worked.

Copaiba Essential Oil Directions For Use
Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil, like Hemp Essential Oil, can be taken internally to interact with our Endocannabinoid system.
However, as mentioned, some people do not tolerate taking essential oils internally very well, and others prefer not to.
For this reason, the topical application of Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil is advised as the first course of action.
Internal Consumption
The use of Organic Coconut Oil is recommended as your carrier oil if you decide to take Copaiba internally. Organic Coconut Oil contains MCT, which makes the Copaiba Essential Oil more bioavailable.
DO NOT take Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil with Organic Coconut Oil internally if you have had your Gall Bladder removed, or if you have Gall Bladder or Liver issues. If you are unsure if you have Gall Bladder or Liver issues please consult your healthcare provider.
Dosage
The adult dosage for Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil when taken internally is one or two drops with a heaped teaspoon of Coconut Oil in the morning followed by one or two drops with Coconut Oil in the evening.
However, everyone is different, so there’s no standard dosage for everyone. It’s always advisable to start out using a low dose of Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil and increase until you find the dosage which works for you.
*Do not exceed 6 drops of Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil per day, and always use it diluted with a carrier oil. If using other essential oils or products containing essential oils it’s important to avoid using more than 12 drops of varying essential oils per day. Less is definitely more when using essential oils!
**Do not heat the Coconut Oil, simply scoop it out of the jar, (it’s usually solid at room temperature in the UK). Then drop the Copaiba Essential Oil on to it and place the combined oils into your mouth.
Allow the Coconut Oil to melt and make it’s way around your mouth… under your tongue and along your gums etc.
Digestion starts in the mouth, and many of the benefits of these two combined oils will be absorbed under your tongue and via your gums etc.
Do not swish as you do not want to disturb plaque.
After about two minutes simply swallow the oil mix.
***Heating cold pressed oils damages the nutrient content.
****Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil is one of several viscous oils that are quite thick and slow running when cold. This is because Copaiba Balsam is an aromatherapy oil made from a resin, like Benzoin Essential Oil and Myrrh Essential Oil etc.
Because of this it can be difficult to get your Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil to pour / drop out of the bottle when it’s cold. To get the oil moving quicker, and to make it flow more easily through the dropper, just roll the bottle vigorously between your hands, whilst the lid is on, to warm the oil up a little.
When you feel the temperature of the bottle has increased you can try to pour the oil out through the dropper again. If the essential oil is warm enough it will hopefully pour properly.
However, most of us end up removing the plastic dropper insert from the bottle as pouring a small amount from the bottle unimpeded by the dropper insert is the most efficient method.
Others pre-dilute their Copaiba Essential Oil in Coconut Oil and simply scoop the pre-blended oil from the jar morning and evening. Organic Coconut Oil tends to be sold in a glass jar. This mean you can stand it in warm water until it melts without worrying about releasing toxins from a plastic container.
20 drops of essential oil is roughly equivalent to 1ml of essential oil.
For a 1% dilution in 100ml of carrier oil simply add 20 drops of Copaiba Essential Oil.
If you have a 200ml jar of Coconut Oil then simply add 40 drops, and so on and so forth.
For a 2% dilution in 100ml of carrier oil just add 40 drops… and 80 drops to 200ml of Coconut Oil etc.
Do NOT microwave your essential oils or carrier oils or place them in boiling water.
Organic Coconut Oil bought from an independent health shop is best, but most supermarkets have Organic Coconut Oil sold in glass jars too.

Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil For External Use
Copaiba Essential Oil can also be applied topically after it has been properly diluted.
Use a carrier oil which is fluid at room temperature. Organic Sweet Almond Oil or Raspberry Seed Oil make for good choices.
Adults can use varying dilutions and should experiment to find their optimal dilution for best results. It’s recommended you start by applying a 1% dilution to the affected area.
This can be increased incrementally up to a maximum of a 5% dilution, or until you find the optimal dilution for you as an individual, whether this be a 2%, 3%, 4% or 5% dilution. (We are all different.)
Properly diluted essential oils enter the bloodstream of the body very quickly and have an almost immediate effect.
Whether taken internally, or applied topically, your Copaiba Essential Oil, when properly blended with your chosen carrier oil, will find its way into your body to be employed where it is needed most.
Copaiba Essential Oil For Emotional Support
If you are using Copaiba Essential Oil for emotional support, apply your diluted oil to chest and neck, all the way up to your chin and hairline. Make sure you massage the oil in well to the area beneath your ears as this is where your Vagus Nerve is closest to the surface of the skin. This will have a very profound soothing effect.
Also apply it to your pulse points on your wrists.
Copaiba Essential Oil For Physical Support
If you are using Copaiba Essential Oil for inflammatory conditions, then simply apply where needed.
Consult How To Use Essential Oils if you are unsure how to dilute essential oils in carrier oils.
Should I Take Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil Internally Or Externally?
Adults are free to choose how to use Copaiba Essential Oil based on their personal preference. If you would prefer to apply Copaiba topically, then this is recommended.
However, if you don’t get the desired results from experimenting with different dilutions then may be it’s time to switch the way you are using your Copaiba Oil?
If you are willing to experiment with taking your Copaiba Essential Oil orally, then please follow the directions closely, and monitor yourself to see how you feel during and after.
If you still don’t receive all of the benefits you are hoping for then it may be time to graduate to Hemp Essential Oil…?
Copaiba Essential Oil Is Suitable For Children & Babies
Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil is one of the safest aromatherapy oils for use with babies and children. However, it is important to use all essential oils at lower dilutions for babies and children than you would for an adult. Please read Essential Oil Safety For Babies & Children for usage instructions.
Copaiba Essential Oil For Oral Hygiene
Copaiba Essential Oil is a very effective ingredient in homemade toothpastes. When mixed with Organic Sweet Orange Essential Oil it is especially helpful, and tastes great!
Both offer many benefits for oral hygiene, and this combination is safe for young children. These essential oils also benefit from having a mild taste, unlike some of the other essential oils used for oral hygiene.
This combination of essential oils can also be used for oil pulling. A couple of drops of Organic Sweet Orange Essential Oil along with a drop of Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil added to a rounded dessert spoon of Organic Coconut Oil is a great option for oil pulling.
Organic Peppermint Essential Oil, Organic Spearmint Essential Oil and Organic Clove Leaf Essential Oil are also excellent choices for this purpose, as well as for use in homemade toothpastes. All of these oils have specific strengths, so it’s good to alternate them. Clove Leaf is thought to help remineralise teeth for example.
Wild As The Wind also carry a Wildcrafted Organic Peppermint Essential Oil and ethically sourced versions of Clove Leaf, Spearmint and Peppermint aromatherapy oils.
Oil Pulling For Dental & Digestive Health
Oil pulling is a fantastic way of naturally reducing harmful bacteria in our mouths.
*Neutralising oral bacteria can positively impact digestive health and halitosis.
Simply add a couple of drops of essential oil to a dessert spoon of Organic Coconut Oil, place in your mouth and swish around your mouth and through your teeth for up to 20 minutes. Be reasonably vigorous in your approach so that any trapped food will be released along with all of the plaque.
Never swallow your swished oil mixture, and avoid emptying them down the drain of your sink. It is better to spit the used oil into a well lined bin to protect your plumbing from potential oil build-ups.
Copaiba Essential Oils Cautions
Not advised for internal consumption for children under the age of 16 years of age.
Topical application, after being properly diluted in a good carrier oil, should be more than adequate to deliver all of the desired benefits.
Please read How To Use Essential Oils and Essential Oil Safety For Babies & Children for further information.

Since taking Nigella Satvia Oil and Copaiba Oil our dog Alfie is so much happier and lively. Before he didn’t even look up when someone came to the door and now is he is eager to greet everyone, he is also up and ready to go for a walk anytime. Thanks Rachel long may it last!

Would like to follow up my previous review where I mentioned I was using this for oil pulling (along with Clove leaf oil). Well I’ve just had a dentist appointment and was told “whatever you’re doing keep it up, your gums have improved !” very pleased about this, thankyou Rachel for your advice.
lucy unwin (verified owner) –
I am using a combination of Copaiba and Clove leaf for oil pulling on Rachels recommendation, hoping it may help with gum disease. My teeth certainly feel cleaner since starting and a little less sensitive. I admit I don’t do it for the whole 20 minutes thats recommended but I think even 5-10 minutes will produce good results. I see in the info about this EO it can help high blood pressure, I’m yet to discover the best way to use it for this purpose but I will keep reading and learning from Rachels incredible website of info!
Djamila –
I have been using Copaiba oil for over 4 days now, after having numerous pains in my hands and wrists, in conjunction with raspberry seed oil to help spread its numerous benefits.
The pain has now subsided and I feel surprised by how quick I was released from what became like chronic pains.
I will certainly be coming back for more! Thank you Rachel for your expert recommendations and caring support. xx
Nicole –
I have been taking the Copaiba oil for a few weeks now but have increased the dosage to eight drops from last week since I have taken a role as a carer to mum, who suffers from depression. I would say it is definitely helping and it feels like it is taking the sharp edge off a punch… I also have this chronic pain on my shoulder and neck and it gets worse with stress. Since taking the Copaiba oil the pain is much better and I have noticed that I don’t feel the need to rub my shoulder and neck that often. This oil is amazing! Thank you so much Rachel xx
Rachel Wild –
Thank you for your brilliant review. I am so glad your Copaiba is working so well for you on every level. Sending love to you both. x x x x

OK, I purchased this oil for my sister who has inflamed rheumatoid arthritis in her lower back from years of lifting people as a nurse. It had got to the stage that she was in so much pain, she agreed to have injections into her lower spine. After 18 months, she admitted that she didn’t feel much difference. It was around about then that I had discovered this website and Copaiba oil. I realise that I am sounding like a cliche, but seriously, this is not the case. I blended a carrier oil (joboba) with some Copaiba and gave it to her. That was 6 weeks ago and after 2 weeks she told me that her pain was dissipating. She has continued to apply it and has asked for more, as her back problem is 80% improved.
Rachel Wild –
Oh Karen, I am so pleased Copaiba is helping your sister so much. Thanks so much for letting me know. I really hope your sister is experiencing a whole new lease of life… I’m guessing her movement is much improved, as well as her stamina! Such wonderful news. Thank you! x

Hi Rachel I have been meaning to leave a review for ages so here I am. I have been using a wide range of your oils for several years now and the quality of the oils is as always outstanding. I spent a long time researching and searching for pure oils and my lucky day when I found wild as the wind. The efficacy of the oils are amazing as is the aroma when using in the diffuser. I have had two total knee replacements and also have arthritis and the oils are the only products which give relief when applied topically. Also love the personal touch and for me the trouble you take to give us the properties and usage of each oil. I have learnt so much. I give the range five stars
Rachel Wild –
Dearest Joan, thank you for your kind and encouraging words. It’s so lovely to be so appreciated. Thank you. x x x Receiving feedback like this makes all of my efforts so worth while. I’m so glad you are receiving so many benefits from your oils. With love x x x x
Hazel Halter-Hurn –
I suffer from psoriasis, having tried many lotions and prescribed ointments over the years. This is by far the best thing I have applied to my skin with immediate lasting progress and love from my skin. I use the Copaiba Oil with a raspberry seed carrier Oil morning and night. Working with the carrier Raspberry seed oil which absorbs so happily into my skin like it was meant to go there! The results have been fantastic! Highly recommend to any one with psoriasis.
Rachel Wild –
I’m so, so pleased it’s worked so well x x x

Have been using this in a homemade toothpaste paste with sweet orange oil and love the combination. Teeth are healthy and strong. Also been mixing with rose hip oil and palmarosa for my face and neck and have definitely noticed an improvement. Love it!

Maureen (verified owner) –
I finally persuaded my husband to try the copaiba oil in a carrier oil as he’s been having aches and pains in the muscles of his arms and shoulders. Several months now. Probably some arthritus. This is really helping the discomfort and he now asks to have it on him every morning. I’m going to ask him if he will start taking it orally. He also asked me if I’d got plenty of it. So thank you Rachel, another satisfied customer.
Rachel Wild –
Thanks Maureen. I am very pleased to hear you finally got your husband to apply the Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil topically. This is just as good as taking it internally, but if you are the one that needs to apply it, I can see why you’d want him to take it internally. It’s interesting… all of the men featured in the Copaiba reviews were sceptical and resistant to taking this amazing essential oil… and now they all love it!
Tracy (verified owner) –
This oil has helped me with my current lifestyle stress. I take a drop of this wonderful oil in the morning and night and it has transformed me into a calm and clear thinking person. I also sleep pretty much uninterrupted for a solid six hours which I haven’t for many years. I thoroughly recommend and will be purchasing again.
Rachel Wild –
Hi Tracy, I’m so pleased Copaiba Essential Oil is having such a profoundly positive impact on your health and well being. It’s amazing that such a small amount of this oil can impart so many benefits. Thanks so much for sharing your experience of it with others. Hopefully your review will help them to also find the relief they are also hoping for. Sending love, Rachel x x x
Miranda –
After sleeping funny & ending up in pain & unable to turn my head far, I mixed up some of Wild As The Wind’s palmarosa, copaiba, cade & fragonia essential oils into a carrier oil & rubbed it on my neck & shoulder.
As a regular user & lover of essential oils, it still surprised me how immediate the pain relief was! I just wish I’d not waited til evening before making it…
Rachel Wild –
Hi Miranda, I’m so glad you decided to use your essential oils. You made great choices! That combo would have made light work of your injury. 🙂
Kayleigh Dyson (verified owner) –
Copaiba has really helped me! I am shocked with how well it worked!! I suffer from Endometriosis and the doctors put me on morphine all day everyday. I was sick of taking it, so when we went to Glastonbury and met the lovely Rachel she explained to me how well Copaiba essential oil works and how to use it. When we came home I got straight online and ordered this product! It has really helped my pain! I put it on in a morning and I can now work without being in pain.
My grandad suffers with really bad arthritis in his hands, fingers, shoulders and legs. I took my Copaiba essential oil when I went to see him and got him to put some on his hands to try! He is amazed by how well this works for him as well. He is in shock that it had really worked for him. I have now purchased a bigger bottle so my grandad can use it more often to help his pain too! My grandad normally only takes medication prescribed to him as he doesn’t believe in natural healing. But this has shown him that natural oils can help. He now has a completely different outlook due to this oil.
We can both say that this oil is a life changing miracle!!
I honestly can not thank Rachel enough for all of her help and for how amazingly this product works. I will be ordering more off you soon. Thank you again! ???? Kayleigh x
Rachel Wild –
Hi Kayleigh, thanks so much for your utterly brilliant review. x x x I’m so, so pleased Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil has been so successful for you and your grandfather. 70% of all medicines are based on plants. So, in reality, everyone believes in plant medicine… it’s just that some have no idea that they do! 🙂 🙂 🙂
maria jones –
My Husband has suffered arthritis in his hand and finger joints for 5 years and has taken many pain killers and anti inflammatory pills over these years. He decided to give the copaiba oil a try and started on one drop mixed with coconut oil morning and night. After one week he upped it to two drops morning and two in the evening. He stopped taking other pain killers and now after 5 weeks takes no pain killers at all. The swelling in his hands has gone down and his fingers are now straight, we can honestly say that it really is like a miracle for him and he cant quite believe the difference it has made. He is a carpenter by trade and can now grip and use his tools like he used to.
Rachel Wild –
Dear Maria, thanks so much for this very moving and inspiring feedback. I know your husband was very skeptical about the idea Copaiba Balsam Essential Oil could do anything to help him, and I am so glad that he was willing to try it any way. Conventional pain killers are really not good for our health, especially long-term. Copaiba Essential Oil is very gentle and has many health benefits. I am so very pleased for you and your husband. Thank you so much for writing in.
