Description

Cistus Essential Oil

Cistus Essential Oil is also known as Rock Rose Essential Oil. It is a beautifully aromatic aromatherapy oil with really comprehensive uses and benefits.

Cistus Essential Oil is best known for easing respiratory conditions and for injuries and wounds, but, as you will see, it has a lot more to offer than this…

It is the favourite antiviral essential oil of Rachel Wild.

Cistus Essential Oil Health Benefits

Cistus Essential Oil health benefits are thought to include: antibacterial + anti-fungal + anti-inflammatory + antimicrobial + antioxidant + antiseptic + antiviral + astringent + biofilm-breaking agent + emmenagogue (increases menstrual flow) + expectorant + mucolytic + sedative + vulnerary (wound healing)

Please consult the Glossary Of Terms for more information.

Cistus Essential Oil is a key ingredient in the Wild As The Wind Ease Essential Oil Blend, along with Katrafay Essential Oil and Plai Essential Oil.

Cistus Essential Oil Traditional Health Benefits

Cistus Essential Oil has a vast number of traditional uses. This list is by no means exhaustive.

It has been used to treat many respiratory infections, and respiratory disorders including coughs, colds, bronchitis, Asthma, allergies and flu.

Cistus Incanus has been used in studies to treat Lyme disease1 SARS and MERS2

Cistus Essential Oil has been shown to display antimicrobial properties against Staph, E. Coli and Candida albicans3.

Plus, it is an effective aromatherapy oil for detoxification purposes, either in a massage oil or added to a bath, as well as being inhaled, as it increases lymphatic drainage and is antioxidant.

Being deeply anti-inflammatory, Cistus Essential Oil is exceptional for joint and muscle soreness. As it is such an excellent anti-inflammatory, it is also the essential oil of choice for asthma, which is fundamentally an inflammatory condition.

Cistus Essential Oil Energetic Benefits

Essential oils work energetically as well as physically and spiritually.

The conditions within which plants are grown, that are then used to make aromatherapy oils, leave an energetic imprint, which is carried through to the essential oils. And, the plants themselves have a unique energetic imprint also.

Rock Rose grows primarily in the Mediterranean and is known for it’s ability to endure harsh, hot, dry climates. For this reason, Cistus Essential Oil confers resilience upon it’s users in the same way Frankincense and Myrrh aromatherapy oils do.

Legend has it, during the time of Christ, an incense made with Myrrh, Frankincense & “Onycha”, (later identified as labdanum gum, which is extracted from the leaves of Cistus), was used as a preventative, (prophylactic), and to help ease the symptoms of respiratory infections.

It is no surprise that all three aromatherapy oils are thought to support stamina and endurance in those who are flagging. All three oils are made from plant stock obtained from harsh, arid landscapes where stamina and endurance are of paramount importance to survival.

Rock Rose was also highly regarded by the ancient Kings of Israel. The oil from the Rock Rose was one of their five sacred aromas for the purpose of holy anointing. Unsurprisingly, Frankincense and Myrrh oils were also on this list of five=

Cistus Essential Oil Physical & Emotional Benefits

Cistus Essential Oil is one of the most profoundly energetically supportive aromatherapy oils there is. However, it possesses immense physical and emotional benefits also.

All trauma and unprocessed emotions are stored energetically within our bodies. So when people refer to energetic healing, they are often referring to emotional healing.

Cistus Essential Oil is a profoundly centering aromatherapy oil. It also helps us to connect to the spirit realms with ease.

On an emotional level Cistus Essential Oil is believed to help alleviate shock from traumatic events and accidents.

It’s also thought to soothe our heart after a crisis, especially when the trauma has left us feeling ‘beside ourselves’ with grief. In these instances we are apt to feel empty and numb, which are the short-term protective mechanisms in place to shield us from the full impact of tragedy and trauma.

Often we are left feeling that the only feeling we are aware of is the feeling of not being able to feel anything emotionally any more.

However, the feeling of not being able to feel anything is the typical state of affairs for those suffering from depression.

It is, thus, important to work through the trauma, brought on by the crisis, which has rendered us temporarily in this state. Unless we successfully process the trauma, thereby shifting it from our energetic field, we sadly run the risk of getting trapped in a state of chronic depression, where we are left incapable of feeling for months or years.

When we are in a depressive state we are cut off from our Higher Selves.

Cistus Essential Oil helps us to reconnect with our Soul purpose, and the wisdom from our Higher Selves and Soul Guides. It also helps to diminish the dissonance in our energy field, thereby helping us to process our trauma, leaving us less likely to get depressed.

Thus, the use of Cistus Essential Oil is extremely important for those who experience a rift or disconnection from their Spiritual Selves, and for those who feel spiritually lost, (those who don’t know their purpose and who are fearful).

Cistus Essential Oil For Skincare

Cistus Essential Oil is a deeply rejuvenating aromatherapy oil, helping to eliminate fine lines and reducing the typical features of mature skin. Because it is profoundly anti-inflammatory as well as antiseptic it is very soothing for many skin conditions, including sunburn.

Because of this it is also beneficial for Acne and Rosacea, and even helps to reduce oily skin.

Cistus Essential Oil is known for its wound and scar healing abilities. It diminishes blemishes, Acne-marks and scars leaving skin looking even, toned, and healthy.

It is also known for helping with other chronic skin conditions, like Psoriasis and Eczema.

*Psoriasis and Eczema both have poor digestive health at their core, and are compounded by allergies and stress. Psoriasis improves with Vitamin D and Vitamin K2 supplementation, or a good amount of sun exposure coupled with the consumption of Vitamin K2 rich foods, like Organic Chicken Pate.

Both conditions improve when allergens are removed. The two most common allergens are dairy and grain based foods.

Because of its antiseptic and antibacterial properties Cistus Essential Oil is powerfully purifying helping us to prevent skin infections. It is one of those rare vitalising aromatherapy oils which leave our skin feeling really healthy… fresher, smoother, fuller and more luminous.

Cistus Essential Oil is also a fast acting wound healer which is exceptional at stanching bleeding.

Cistus Essential Oil Aroma

Cistus Essential Oil is a profoundly alluring, fresh, woodsy, balsamic aromatherapy oil with faint herbaceous and slightly spicy, floral and even the subtlest Wildcrafted Organic Pine Essential Oil undertones.

*Wildcrafted Organic Pine Essential Oil is a glorious pine needle oil that has an incredible aroma.

Cistus Essential Oil Cautions & Contraindications

Cistus Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-sensitising & non-irritant.

However, skin sensitisation can occur if oxidised (exposed to sunlight / heat, and air). Always store essential oils in a tightly closed glass bottle in a cool, dark place.

It is recommended that Cistus Essential Oil is stored in the fridge to prevent oxidation.

1 review for Cistus Essential Oil

  1. Gem W.

I use Cistus Oil (about 3 drops) mixed with the lovely Organic Black Seed Oil & Oregano, for a long-standing respiratory problem and it has made a considerable difference. I had to persevere for a short while before I noticed that my coughing was so much easier.

I also use Organic Frankincense Carteri Essential Oil

Rachel you have a beautiful website and such special essential oils and special customer service. The information on your website is invaluable. The love of what you do makes all the difference.
