Description

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend contains a proprietary blend of organic essential oils, and is suitable for diffusing, or use in an oil burner.

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend is not suitable for topical application without first being diluted in a good carrier oil.

For the full protection that this essential oil blend provides, topical application is advised.

Plus, with topical application, there a good number of other benefits. Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend is a very hormone balancing blend, which will also give you a good immune-boost.

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend Testimonials

I recently used the Wild As The Wind insect repellent whilst on holiday in Australia and I wasn’t bit once!

Diluting Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend should be diluted at a maximum 1% dilution before it is applied topically.

Dilute your Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil blend in a good carrier oil like Organic Sweet Almond Oil. You can even use Olive Oil, or any other good carrier oil you have in your kitchen. My personal preference is Raspberry Seed Oil as it just vanishes into the skin and is completely non-greasy.

Because you will need to apply your diluted Ultimate Insect Repellent Blend on most areas of your body, the dilution percentage cannot exceed 1%. To do so would mean you are exposing yourself to a lot of essential oil!

When a 10ml bottle of Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend is diluted at the right amount it is possible to make 1000ml, or one litre of insect repellent, which is then suitable for topical application.

You can also add Witch Hazel to your diluted blend of oils. Add anywhere between 10% and 25% Witch Hazel to your diluted essential oil blend.

Bugs don’t like Witch Hazel either!

You will need to shake your Oil and Witch Hazel blend of ingredients well before each use, as Witch Hazel is a water-based product, which does not naturally mix with oil, so it will separate in between uses.

If you are still unsure how to dilute essential oils, please refer to How To Use Essential Oils.

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend Ingredients

The ingredients used in this essential oil blend are designed to repel most insects and pests, including ticks, horseflies and lice. There is very little to deter common flies, but people have reported being less prone to being bothered by them when wearing this Ultimate Insect Repellent Blend.

Stinging insects also don’t like some of the oils in this blend, but to be honest, as long as you remain calm around bees and wasps they will not sting you. Bees and wasps aren’t interested in you, so just keep out of their way!

Spiders are the same… but the Peppermint Essential Oil in this blend will repel them all the same.

Mosquitoes, lice, ticks and horseflies, and some common flies are a different story. These beasties are designed to feed off us and other mammals… and, of course, some of them can make us pretty unwell.

Aside from the obvious risk of Malaria from mosquitoes, whilst abroad, there is also a risk of infection at the bite site, especially from common flies and horseflies. There are several disinfectant essential oils in this proprietary blend, which will reduce the risk of infection significantly, even if you are unlucky enough to get bitten.

*Full coverage (aside from eyes and intimate areas) is required to help prevent being bitten by mosquitoes. The same is true of horseflies. Lower body application is required for repelling ticks during countryside walks, but application to hands and forearms is also recommended, especially if walking through tall grass.

Perhaps the most surprising ingredient in this blend is Organic Patchouli Essential Oil? But, according to Doctors Health Press

Patchouli oil is so effective as an insect repellent that it actually has been studied as a natural pesticide and insecticide. Research published in the journal Pest Management Science in 2010 found that 17 essential oils, including patchouli oil, would decrease non-target exposure to hazardous insecticides.

This is why Organic Patchouli Aromatherapy Oil has earned a very well deserved place in this insect repellent blend.

All nine essential oils in this pre-blended insect repellent are considered to be tick repelling, with findings often being supported by scientific evidence. In addition, a quick targeted search on the internet will reveal a lot of long tried and tested anecdotal evidence in support of these essential oils, especially for two or three in particular.

The overall picture strongly suggests that Organic Geranium Essential Oil and Organic Patchouli Essential Oil are the two most effective, both anecdotally and scientifically. In various peer reviewed experiments, these oils have shown greater efficacy than DEET, without any of the toxicity.

Thyme Red Essential Oil is also highly favoured. Organic Thyme Red Essential Oil is one of the most important essential oils of our time as it is a natural progesterone, an incredibly important hormone for emotional and physical wellbeing, that both men and women are becoming increasingly deficient in due to environmental and lifestyle exposures.

It is a very important ingredient in Wild As The Wind Thieves Oil 2020 and Thieves Essential Oil 2020, which aside from being a ‘first aid kit in a bottle’, can also be used for hormone and EMF detoxification.

These Thieves Oil pre-blended products are also thought to be great for repelling ticks. As well as the Organic Thyme Red Essential Oil, there’s two other aromatherapy oils which have shown much scientific and anecdotal evidence they are great for repelling ticks. These are Organic Oregano Essential Oil and Organic Clove Leaf Essential Oil

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend Directions For Use

Diffusing

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend is a pure essential oil blend which is suitable for diffusers and essential oil burners.

Add five drops of Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend to your diffuser, and replenish after an hour or two.

*You will only need to diffuse Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend from dusk onwards to repel mosquitoes.

To repel flies and wasps etc. you can diffuse Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend during the day.

Topical Application

Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend needs to be diluted before it can be topically applied. The maximum dilution of this blend of essential oils, in your chosen carrier oil, is 1%.

Please refer to How To Use Essential Oils or Using Essential Oils to learn how to accurately dilute your pure essential oils.

After diluting your Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend at a 1% dilution in a suitable carrier oil, you can apply it to your face and body. However, it is important to avoid contact with eyes and intimate areas.

It is also possible to add up to 25% Witch Hazel, to your diluted blend, to further enhance efficacy and improve application and absorbency. Please be aware that if you add Witch Hazel to your diluted blend you will always need to shake thoroughly before use.

It is best to make 100ml of diluted insect repellent at a time, preferably with a Raspberry Seed Oil, Organic Safflower Oil or Organic Sweet Almond Oil base.

It is also best to place your diluted insect repellent in a spray atomiser bottle for ease of application, if you have one.

Ensure you apply your insect repellent to all exposed areas of your body. But, please be aware that mosquitoes can bite through flimsey clothing. To avoid this, apply your insect repellent under flimsey clothing if necessary, but ensure you massage the oil in properly to avoid staining your clothes.

If you are likely to be applying your insect repellent under clothing, using Raspberry Seed Oil or Organic Safflower Oil as your carrier oil is recommended. Raspberry Seed Oil and Organic Safflower Oil absorb beautifully into the skin without leaving a residue.

You can reapply your insect repellent every three or four hours, as required.

General Cautions & Contraindications

  • Always perform a patch test before full use.
  • Avoid spraying on clothing. Oils may stain and discolour clothing.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, intimate areas and inside your ears.
  • Keep away from children when being stored.
  • Suitable for application on children of 5 years and above once properly diluted in a carrier oil.
  • The undiluted essential oil blend is suitable for diffusing in an electric essential oil diffuser around children of 2 years and above for one or two hours.
  • Avoid diffusing or applying the diluted version of this essential oil blend around cats.

Patch Test

Always perform a skin patch test before using a product body-wide for the first time.

To do this, simply apply a very small amount of pre-diluted oil to a small area of skin on the inside of your forearm. The skin patch size should be a maximum of 2″ x 2″ or 5 cm x 5 cm. Leave for at least an hour, and if there is no reaction, you are likely safe to apply your oil blend to the rest of your body, avoiding eyes and intimate areas.

1 review for Ultimate Insect Repellent Essential Oil Blend

  1. Norm, Yorkshire (verified owner)

I’ve just bought 2 bottles of this (one for me and another for a friend who bugs seem to love…) – as with every order from Rachel, they are sent quickly and packaged well and you receive very helpful and detailed information on her website about how to dilute it properly (a welcome change from many others…) – it’s a pleasure to order from her.

    • Rachel Wild

Thanks Norman. I look forward to an update on how well the insect repellent has been at the end of the summer… but let’s not dwell on the summer coming to an end! I really hope we have a sunny one… with no insect bites!
