Description

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is an exceptionally beneficial oil with many skincare applications. Lauded for its ability to prevent dermal moisture loss, it is a powerful emollient, and one of Nature’s super foods!

Due to its price, Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is usually reserved for facial application.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil absorbs beautifully, without leaving a hint of greasiness. It is deeply moisturising, helping to preserve hydration within the skin.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is suitable for all skin types, but is particularly beneficial for those with sensitive, mature and problematic skin.

It is also suitable for summer and winter use, helping to alleviate chapped, dry skin in winter and reducing the effects of harsh conditions for those with sensitive skin.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil also contains constituents that help to diminish stretch marks, scars and signs of ageing.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is also known as Organic Barberry Fig Seed Oil and Indian Fig Oil.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil Origins

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is derived from a variety of fruiting Mexican Cacti known as Prickly Pear. It is one of the least aromatic carrier oils, which makes it ideal for blending with essential oils for facial application.

The oil is procured from the seeds of the fruits of the Prickly Pear Cacti. The seeds are separated from the flesh of the organic fruit and then sun dried until the water content is evaporated away. Once dried, the organic seeds are cold pressed to express the oil content of the seeds.

Because the seeds contain less than 5% oil, it takes in excess of 10,000 seeds to produce 1L of Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil, hence the cost of this oil.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil For Skincare

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil contains many compounds known to have hydrating, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, all of which make it profoundly protective against skin damage. It also means that it is deeply helpful for inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne and eczema.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is non-comedogenic, making it especially ideal for those with problem skin or who have small pores.

Comedogenic values determine how absorbent an oil is, and how likely it is to clog pores. Because Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is non-comedogenic, this means that it is suitable for all skin types.

It is also the reason why the skincare industry love this oil, which has led to its use in a good number of high-end skincare treatments and serums.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is rich in tocopherols, aka vitamin E, and vitamin C. These vitamins promote the production of collagen, which is the connective tissue within the skin and maintains skin integrity.

Additionally, Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil contains a good number of Omega fatty acids, which account for the moisturising capabilities of this exquisite oil.

Organic Prickly Pear Oil is also a rich source of amino acids, (the building blocks of the body), and antioxidants, Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil helps to improve the elasticity and appearance of our skin. This is especially true for those with dry, damaged and problem skin.

It is an ideal choice for those with mature and sun damaged skin, and for those who use computers for several hours each day. Both the sun and the artificial light from computer screens speed up the ageing process.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is also deeply protective of sensitive skin, prone to dryness, in the winter months.

The high levels of vitamin K and Zinc in Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil help to heal discoloured, blemished skin and scars.

Organic Prickly Pear Seed Oil is one of the most expensive beauty oils in the world, but nevertheless, is so nutrient dense that a little goes a long way. We need to use a lot less of this oil to reap the benefits, when compared to almost all other oils.

Opuntia ficus indica L. inermis (OFI) [Prickly pear Oil] is used in traditional medicine pharmacopeia for its richness in natural bioactive compounds. It has been proven to be effective in the improvement of the healing of laser-induced skin burns… has shown an interesting antimicrobial effect on Enterobacter cloacae, antiyeast effect against Candida parapsilosis and Candida sake, and antifungal activity against three opportunistic cutaneous molds (Penicillium, Aspergillus, and Fusarium). Moreover, OFI oil has shown a good wound healing effect. It prevents cutaneous infections and reduces the reepithelialization phase… The results of the current study have shown the effectiveness of OFI extracted oil in the improvement of cutaneous wound healing of a full-thickness injury, by enhancing the speed of wound contraction, the complete reepithelialization, and improving the external scar’s aspect. The antimicrobial effect of this oil could prevent wound area infections, thus preventing a delay in the healing process.
