Organic Castor Oil
Organic Castor Oil by Wild As The Wind is an excellent quality oil. It is very viscous, but has a very low comedogenic value, and so it is very unlikely to block pores. For this reason, it is often found in Acne treatments.
Organic Castor Oil Health Benefits
Castor Oil was advocated by Edgar Cayce for all manner of therapeutic benefits, ranging from Liver detoxification to the reduction of cellulite and weight loss. It is also helpful for constipation and digestive health.
Edgar Cayce advocated Castor Oil Packs for the treatment of these conditions, and many more.
Organic Castor Oil For Skincare
Organic Castor Oil is very helpful for problematic skin. For example, applying Organic Castor Oil as a beauty mask can often help reduce the appearance and development of Acne. It will also help moisturise dry skin. However, depending on your skin type, Organic Castor Oil can sometimes have a drying effect on our skin.
Always perform a skin test before applying any oil or treatment liberally.
Organic Castor Oil For Hair
Organic Castor Oil can also be used as a rather indulgent hot oil hair treatment to revitalise your hair and re-moisturise it.
You can heat the Organic Castor Oil in a bain marie, or by placing it in a cup and then heating it up in a pan of boiling water, which has been taken away from the direct heat source. Do not use a microwave as this destroys the nutrients in the oil.
When warm enough, simply work the heated castor oil through your hair from root to tip. You can use a wide toothed comb or brush for this. Wrap in an old towel when fully applied.
Leave for an hour or even overnight. Shampoo after your treatment period has finished.
Cautions & Contraindications
It is not necessary to drink Organic Castor Oil to benefit your body. Some people recommend ingesting Organic Castor Oil to ease constipation. This is unnecessary, as castor oil packs are the best way of dealing with this issue.
Organic Castor Oil can potentially cause some serious digestive issues, so taking it internally is generally not recommended. It is certainly not advisable to take Organic Castor Oil internally unless under the supervision of a health professional.
If you have sensitive skin, or if you do a lot of sun bathing, there’s a very remote chance you may have a slight reaction to this Wild As The Wind oil.
It is always advisable to perform a patch test on the soft skin on the inside of your forearm before using carrier oils on your face.
Perform A Patch Test
Place a drop or two of Wild As The Wind oil on your inner forearm, making sure to massage it well into your skin.
A severe reaction will occur within ten minutes, but it may take 24 hours for milder intolerances to emerge.
Look for signs of Urticaria, (aka Hives), discolouration, redness, dryness, or feelings of irritation / itchiness.
If you experience none of these, you will be safe to use your Wild As The Wind oil elsewhere on your body, including your face.
Nevertheless, always avoid sensitive areas and inside your ears unless otherwise instructed by your health professional. This is especially important if you use your Wild As The Wind oil as a carrier oil for a number of Organic Essential Oils.
