Description
Organic Tamanu Oil
Organic Tamanu Oil is a very beneficial oil, which is why it makes regular appearances in high-end skincare products.
It is particularly sought after for its collagen promoting properties, as well as its wound healing and scar reduction potential.
As an anti-inflammatory oil, it also helps to balance and even out our complexions.
Wild As The Wind Organic Tamanu Oil is a wild crafted oil, making it particularly special.
However, it is an aromatic oil, made from nuts, so it is not suitable for everyone.
Organic Tamanu Oil Health Benefits
Organic Tamanu Oil health benefits are thought to include: analgesic + anti-ageing + antibacterial + antifungal + anti-inflammatory + antimicrobial + antioxidant + cicatrisant (wound healing)
There have been a number of in vitro and in vivo studies investigating various skin-active properties of tamanu oil, and it has been proven to have potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, analgesic, and even wound-healing abilities. These properties make tamanu oil an especially interesting candidate for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). This multifaceted disease is marked by the disruption of the skin barrier function, chronic inflammation, and skin microbiome dysbiosis with limited treatment options, [that are] free from adverse events and inexpensive, making [this condition] desperate for a new treatment option.1

Wildcrafted Organic Tamanu Oil Is Beautiful
The colour of Organic Tamanu Oil is pretty splendid. It is a deep amber-green in colour which emits a cooling, calming and relaxing vibe simply through the power of suggestion.
But, the benefits aren’t purely psychological… being anti-inflammatory, Organic Tamanu Oil, can indeed dampen the flames within our skin.
Tamanu is one of the more aromatic carrier oils, with a rich earthy scent.

I bought this as the benefits sound amazing. Unfortunately I hate the smell as it is very strong akin to celery which I can’t abide, otherwise I can’t fault it. If you love celery then this is for you.
Rachel Wild –
Hi Pam, thanks very much for your feedback. Sorry you don’t like the smell of this oil. Sadly, some of the most potently beneficial oils do have a bit of an aroma, that aren’t always to everyone’s tastes. Adding antioxidant oils, like the ones in the Sun Tanning Essential Oil Blend, tend to really help with that. It’s also best diluted a little with another carrier oil. (There’s 50% Organic Tamanu Oil in the Bath & Body Oil No. 8, and it smells lovely… however, over time, on the skin, the Tamanu aroma breaks through a little for some people, depending on their body chemistry.)
Kimberly –
I was looking for a natural sunscreen made with oils for my upcoming vacation and decided to give this a try. I was so impressed with how well it actually worked! I mixed mine with mostly Raspberry seed oil, but added a little Pomegrenate, Tamanu, and Buriti oils. Next time I will probably eliminate the Tamanu oil as it was really greasy feeling, but seeing how I was using it at the beach, I didn’t mind so much. Looking forward to continuing to use this sun tanning blend! Thanks Rachel for all of your great information on this!
Katie Bennett –
Tamanu Oil, how I love you but neglect you too! I find this oil is a superb rich body oil for the driest of parchment like skin on my legs especially in winter. I forget to use it often enough but it definitely works when I do. I also have many childhood scars on my legs including an an injury from my teenage years which this oil has helped to minimise, other oils found on mainstream shelves promise but don’t deliver in this regard.
Rachel Wild –
Thanks very much, Katie. I’m really glad you are remembering to use this oil on your scars, and that it’s really helping. (The Prickly Pear Oil would also help, as it’s packed with vitamin E.) Also, if you spray Mineral Spritz before you apply Tamanu Oil, it will help remineralise your skin, and will give it the most amazing texture. Much love. x x x
