Neroli Essential Oil For Skincare

Neroli Essential Oil is one of the most popular ingredients in anti-ageing and healing top-end skincare products. It is especially loved by acne sufferers as it kills the bacteria responsible for acne, and then helps to reduce scarring.

The key skincare benefits of Neroli Essential Oil are as follows:

  • Inflammatory skin conditions
  • Scars
  • Discolouration
  • Cell renewal
  • Smoothing
  • Balancing
  • Makes skin glow
  • Moisture maintenance

Neroli Essential Oil For Inflammation & Pain

Scientific research has concluded that Neroli Essential Oil is an excellent anti-inflammatory, especially where chronic inflammation is concerned.

The results suggest that neroli possesses biologically active constituent(s) that have significant activity against acute and especially chronic inflammation, and have central and peripheral antinociceptive effects which support the ethnomedicinal claims of the use of the plant in the management of pain and inflammation.1

Another medical study concluded the following:

Neroli oil aromatherapy during labor significantly impacts women’s experience of perceived pain and anxiety, which seem to be reduced in their severity during all stages of labor. Since neroli oil is a non-pharmacological remedy, which is efficacious in relieving perceived pain and anxiety in women during labor and childbirth, it represents an extremely useful alternative to pharmacological drugs. In fact, neroli oil aids in the progress of labor by decreasing perceived pain and anxiety, thus rendering labor and childbirth easier and less problematic.2

Clary Sage Essential Oil is the go-to aromatherapy oil for expectants mums in the delivery room, especially the Wildcrafted Organic Clary Sage Essential Oil version. However, if budgets can extend to the purchase of a small bottle of Neroli Essential Oil, this oil would clearly be beneficial.

Neroli, Bitter Orange & Petitgrain Essential Oil Confusion

Many people get confused about the difference between Neroli Essential Oil, Bitter Orange Essential Oil, and Petitgrain Essential Oil… and for good reason! All three aromatherapy oils are derived from the same tree, the Seville or Bitter Orange tree.

However, whilst these aromatherapy oils share the same fundamental origin, they are remarkably different essential oils, with differing healing potentials. This is because different parts of the tree are used to make these aromatherapy oils at differing times of year. Petitgrain Essential Oil is distilled from the leaves and twigs of the terminal branches of the tree, and Neroli Essential Oil is distilled from the flowers when the tree blossoms between April and June.

Bitter Orange Essential Oil is derived from the peel of the ripe fruit, later on in the season.

*Because Bitter Orange Essential Oil is phototoxic and is very similar to Sweet Orange Essential Oil in therms of healing potential, Wild As The Wind only stock Organic Sweet Orange Essential Oil and not Bitter Orange Essential Oil.

    Dear Rachel

Many thanks for your amazing mind of knowledge and support, as you know you came as a recommendation, since then in the past 5 months I’ve placed 5 orders of incredible goodies to support both myself and our family of 5: from face oil’s No 2 & No 8, (My 19 yr old daughter loves) Rose Otto Toner, Witch Hazel Toner (also my daughters favourite), Jojoba Oil for make up Removal (best oil I’ve ever come across for the job, and relatively inexpensive when you consider the cost of what’s been spent previously), Body oils, (which have become my Ayurvedic morning ritual after a shower) Raspberry Seed oil combined with the Sun Tan Blend for sun protection, Black Seed oil, Orange Blossom (Neroli), and more, I’m hoping by starting my teenage & young adult children on this natural journey that they will be way ahead of the game than myself at the age of 58!, but it’s never too late to make the switch, and it’s a wonderful learning journey.

I’ve already ditched the freebie fragrance oil, and using the Five Allies 2022 Essential Oil Blend in the washing machine, and will be looking/reading the Laundry Essential Oil Blend.

    PD 🙏🏽

I’ve just switched to using soap nuts for my washing and scent with popping some drops off orange blossom E.O into the conditioner drawer part way through, with the small bottle that came with, but I do a lot of washing, and so would be interested in buying bulk if that’s something you can offer with either that scent or any other appropriate scent?

    • Rachel Wild

Thanks for your great question, Parmy. Orange Blossom Essential Oil is also known as Neroli Essential Oil, and, when authentically made from plant materials, it is very expensive, So, sadly, the free sample you’ve been given will doubtless be a synthetic fragrance oil, which are always toxic.

Wild As The Wind do a Laundry Essential Oil Blend that will help kill bacteria and keep your washing machine sanitised and free from pathogenic buildup in the pipes, etc.

However, for lovers of the Orange Blossom / Neroli scent, there’s always Petitgrain Essential Oil which is made from plant materials from the same tree as Orange Blossom / Neroli Essential Oil, but is made from the leaves and twigs, and not the flowers. Petitgrain Essential Oil has a similar aroma, but is not as delicate or sophisticated. Nevertheless, the scents of both are similar enough to satisfy most people. Petitgrain Essential Oil is also one of the most affordable essential oils available

However, if you want to sanitise your wash and washing machine, and keep the pipes incredibly clear of buildup, thereby considerably extending the life of your washing machine, then I advocate using the Laundry Essential Oil Blend, which smells amazing, or any of the Five Allies Essential Oil Blends, in their undiluted form, especially if you like the way that these smell.
