Description
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil is also known as:
- Boswellia neglecta Essential Oil
- Black Frankincense Essential Oil
It is steam-distilled from the resin collected from wild grown Boswellia neglecta trees in Kenya. This makes it a wild crafted essential oil.
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil is a profoundly therapeutic oil. This is partly due to its high concentrations of alpha-pinene and terpinen-4-ol.
These constituents contribute towards making Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil a powerful anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiseptic and skin-healing oil, deemed especially beneficial for mature and problem skin.
It also provides considerable emotional support and acts as a respiratory decongestant.
- Botanical Name: Boswellia neglecta.
- Aromatically it is considered fresh, resinous, woody, spicy and pine-like, with citrus and balsamic notes
- Appearance: Light yellow, fast flowing
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil Health Benefits
The health benefits of Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil are thought to include: analgesic + anti-arthritic + antibacterial + antidepressant + anti-diabetic + antifungal + anti-hyperglycaemic + anti-inflammatory + antimicrobial + antioxidant + antiseptic + anxiolytic + astringent + diuretic.
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil is highly regarded for multiple applications, including, but not exclusive to the following:
Anti-inflammatory & Skin Health: Its anti-inflammatory properties make it ideal for dry and mature skin, assisting with healing. It acts as an anti-ageing agent.
Antimicrobial & Antiseptic: Due to high levels of alpha-pinene and terpinen-4-ol, (the latter making it similar to Tea Tree Essential Oil), it is highly effective at fighting infections, cleaning wounds, and acting as a disinfectant.
Anti-anxiety & Calming: It promotes tranquillity and relaxation, reduces anxiety, and exerts a grounding influence.
Respiratory Support: When inhaled, it helps clear lungs and tone mucus membranes. When properly diluted in a suitable carrier oil, it acts as an excellent chest rub, clearing phlegm and supporting deep breathing during winter months.
Antimicrobial: Contains terpinen-4-ol, which gives it added antifungal and antibacterial properties compared to other Frankincense aromatherapy oils.
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil For Emotional Support
Black Frankincense Essential Oil is known to promote psychological resilience.
As an anxiolytic and antidepressant it is often used in aromatherapy for its calming, grounding, and sedative properties.
More specifically, it is frequently used to alleviate stress, uplift mood, reduce anxiety and depression, calm obsessive thoughts, and promote deep, restful sleep.
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil For Skin Health
Frankincense Neglecta Essential Oil has many skincare applications.
It is ideal for mature, dry, or damaged skin due to its astringent, balancing, and rejuvenating properties.

This is a wonderfully aromatic Frankincense essential oil. It’s like a combination of all of the Frankincense oils I’ve ever smelt, taking the best of everything! It really is gorgeous. I add it to Sandalwood and Bergamot to make a really heady aromatic blend. I then dilute this blend with either Borage oil or Moringa oil to make a really rich massage oil. I love massaging my legs, arms and abdomen with it, especially after a bath. Both of these blending oils feel amazing on my skin, and the essential oils definitely help to keep my skin in optimal condition. Love it. Thank you. x
