Organic Apricot Kernel Oil is anti-ageing, antioxidant, and antibacterial, but not everyone can, and should, use this oil for facial use.

It is also anti-inflammatory.

Organic Apricot Kernel Oil For Skincare

Organic Apricot Kernel Oil is very high in omega-9, or oleic acid. The oleic acid content of Organic Apricot Kernel Oil is approximately 70%. Omega-9 makes Organic Apricot Kernel Oil very hydrating and anti-inflammatory. However, even though Organic Apricot Kernel Oil only has a comedogenic value of 2 this oil is not as easily absorbed as other oils, such as oils like Organic Sweet Almond Oil.

The comedogenic value of an oil indicates the ease at which the skin absorbs an oil and how likely it is to clog pores. The lower the value, the more easily an oil will be absorbed.

Organic Apricot Kernel Oil Uses

Organic Apricot Kernel Oil, despite it’s reasonably low comedogenic value, can still clog pores quite easily on facial skin and should definitely be avoided for facial use by those with acne-prone skin + combination skin + sensitive skin.

Organic Apricot Kernel Oil is also high in linoleic acid at around 23%

Organic Apricot Kernel Oil tends to leave a high sheen on skin after application, and it’s my go-to oil for shimmering legs in summer.

Contraindications

If you have sensitive skin, or if you do a lot of sun bathing, there’s a very remote chance you may have a slight reaction to this Wild As The Wind oil.

It is always advisable to perform a patch test on the soft skin on the inside of your forearm before using carrier oils on your face.

Perform A Patch Test

Place a drop or two of Wild As The Wind oil on your inner forearm, making sure to massage it well into your skin.

A severe reaction will occur within ten minutes, but it may take 24 hours for milder intolerances to emerge.

Look for signs of Urticaria, (aka Hives), discolouration, redness, dryness, or feelings of irritation / itchiness.

If you experience none of these, you will be safe to use your Wild As The Wind oil elsewhere on your body, including your face.

Nevertheless, always avoid sensitive areas and inside your ears unless otherwise instructed by your health professional. This is especially important if you use your Wild As The Wind oil as a carrier oil for a number of Organic Essential Oils.
