The gut microbiome, sometimes referred to as the human microbiome, is a vitally important colony of bacteria, fungus and viruses that inhabit our digestive track. More specifically, our microbiome resides in our large intestine, and is responsible for a multitude of beneficial activities. The understanding of the gut microbiome is evolving at

Castor Oil Compress Castor oil compresses, also known as castor oil packs, are becoming increasingly popular. And there’s good reason for this… According to Barbara O’Neill, no other oil penetrates into the body as well as Castor Oil. This means that if we use a castor oil compress, it will deliver the

The Importance Of Digestive Health Our digestive health completely underpins our overall health. This means that if we are digestively impaired, all other functions within our body will be undermined. Some of the most common ways in which poor digestive health negatively impacts our overall health are as follows: This article highlights

Healthy Fats & Oils Before we explore healthy fats and oils, it’s important to state that ‘application is everything’! Hi Rachel.

Louise again. Thanks for your reply.

I was just wondering if you could go e me some advice.
I have a teen with crohns, eczema (and possible psoriosis) and DGBI (gut disorders.
He is currently on azathioprine and infliximab which are both steroids.
I also give him turmeric, probiotic and oil of oregano plus multi vitamin.
He eats a very limited processed diet of pizza and breaded chicken fillet. I struggle to get him to eat anything.

I have been looking at your nigella sativa but I am not sure if this would interfere with anything he has going on and with what he is taking.

I am sure I read that not great with immunosuppressive situations?

I have enjoyed reading on your website about many things and will continue to read.

    Thanks for any advice Louise

    1. Thanks for your enquiry Louise. I am very sorry to hear about your son. But hopefully the following will help…

According to the latest research, it is estimated that 90% of our decisions are made by our gut… The unhealthy microbes in our gut demand processed carbs, including pizza, other breads and refined sugar.

The following advice is likely to make me unpopular with more people than just your son, but, please remember, I am completely independent (not funded by corporate pharmaceutical entities), I am not being paid by anyone else to say what I am about to say, and I am providing you with this information for free… so, my voice is truly independent, and as I don’t benefit in any way, I hope that you will give me the benefit of the doubt, and realise that I am providing this information because I genuinely care.

Your son is clearly dysbiotic, in other words, suffering from digestive dysregulation. It is likely that his condition is severe, owing to the variety and severity of his symptoms. (Psoriasis alone, is considered a pre-cancerous condition, according to Dr Jack Kruse [Neurosurgeon], and all skin conditions are inflammatory, which means that the immune system is being over-taxed, and your boy is more likely to catch everything that is going round, thus compounding the issue.)

Most hormones are produced and regulated in the gut. Hormones are chemical messengers that help the body to maintain homeostasis, in other words, keeping the body in normal balance so that your boy can develop normally.

The gut also produces B vitamins, vital for many functions within the body, and particularly important for mental and emotional health.

All of these things combined will mean that you are likely to be met with a meltdown if you try and feed your boy anything other than what he wants. But the solution is to get him off junk food, for good, and start feeding him real grass-fed organic meat and organic veg, particularly cruciferous veg and carrots. Unless you can get good food into your child, and keep him away from junk food there is no point in attempting any other protocol to help.

You would effectively be papering over the cracks when there would be at least 3 earthquakes going off a day.

Incidentally, the steroids will ultimately be compounding the issue and depreciating your boy’s bones.

Processed food is essentially sugar as it instantly converts into sugar in the body.

Sugar is touted to be six times more addictive than cocaine. I can believe it. I have seen junk food addicted children who are coming off processed food behave just like a crack head coming off the drugs.

Thankfully, rehab only lasts a few days… but, they will likely be hellish! Make sure you have plenty of support, and that you prepare well, to ensure you succeed, and never have to go through an episode like that again!

Once off the junk food, healthy food starts to taste good.

Please understand that Nigella Sativa Oil is gentle, and Oregano Oil is tremendously strong / harsh, and if used for more than 10 days, without a break, it can cause more problems than it heals. It will be making your son even more dysbiotic, in the same way that using a single form of probiotics for more than a couple of days, will make your son even more dysbiotic.

I would advise you to stop giving your boy Oregano Oil and never give it to him for ingestion again.

He also needs bone broth to fix his gut. Along with woodland walks, getting his hands dirty in nature, and a good amount of exercise in nature – all of which will repopulate his gut with good bacteria. Taking probiotics only creates a severe imbalance of a very few strains of good bacteria… A healthy gut is one that has a diverse microbiome, which equates to thousands of different types of microbes making up the microbiome.

Berberine, found in Barberry Tincture, amongst a few others, is vitally important for gut health.

Other things need to be addressed…

Reducing stress: including emotional stress, excessive physical stress, environmental pollutants, including conventional cleaning products, and conventional personal care products, conventional sun creams, which are all cancerous, environmental mould, wireless technologies etc, etc…

You essentially need to restore mitochondrial health (supplementing with Co Q10 and PPQ would help), and you need to restore gut function. I would actually advise you to get a good book on each subject. I like Eating Dirt by Dr Josh Axe, and The Wahls Protocol by Terry Whals.

Ultimately, digestive health is a massive topic, because the gut is 80% of our immune system, largely responsible for our hormonal health, and is also largely responsible for absorbing the nutrients we need for brain and body health etc, etc… Poor gut health also causes problematic skin conditions. So, if you want to understand it enough to make a difference, you need to buy and read a couple of books on the subject.

But, in the meantime, taking Nigella Sativa Oil would be a really good idea!

I really hope this advice is helpful.

      Sending love. X x x x

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
You have sent me a great deal of information that I will definitely be taking the time to look into.

Some of these things are not going to be popular with him but I have to start somewhere.

        Thank you again x

      2. Louise says:

        Thank you again Rachel.
I am reading over and over trying to take in all you have said.
I have ordered 1 book already and have been talking to my son.

I just wanted to edit as I don’t know why I wrote that his drugs are steroids. They are immunosuppressants.

Will stop the oregano. He has only been doing this for a week so I am glad I messaged when I did.

I feel very appreciative that you have taken the time to write such an in-depth reply with so much information.

        Thanks 😊

        1. Hi Louise,

Really glad you are making headway with the info I responded with. And, I’m so glad you are talking to your son. x x x His condition is serious… but, he can turn it around with discipline and perseverance… The problem with modern medicine is that it downplays the severity of these conditions, and then tells you that you need to be on their drugs for the rest of your life… neither of these things are usually true. More often than not, the illness is serious, and the drugs are going to make you more ill over time…

Immunosuppressants make a bit more sense… but, it’s our immune system that protects us from everything that’s doing the rounds… and it’s what keeps us clear of cancer! We need our immune systems!

Your son is clearly suffering from raging inflammation – [inflammation is what the body does when we are having an immune response]. And, I’d be willing to bet my house that he has Mast Cell Activation Syndrome… you are lucky, I have written an article about this: https://wilddigital.co.uk/mast-cell-activation-syndrome-essential-oils/

I’m very sorry to say that if you don’t stop your son from eating junk, his life is almost certainly going to be a miserable, debilitating affair… I am so sorry… but, there’s no way of saying this in any other way. Sugar-coating only leads to people not taking things seriously… and your son’s condition needs to be taken very seriously, indeed.

I really hope that you are getting through to him.

I am sending you lots of love and support!

          Rachel x x x x

  2. Anne D. says:

Suncreams are a minefield with all the nasties in them… What would I need to use along side my face oil to add an spf? Is it Raspberry Seed Oil?
Just for my face this time, then I can explore which oil to get with an spf for my body at a later date.

    1. Hi Anne,

You can decide which sun protective carrier oil you’d like here: Carrier Oils For UV Protection

Raspberry Seed Oil is tending to be the most popular for body, and Marula Oil is the most popular for facial application. But, Broccoli Seed Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil (which is in your Facial Oil No. 2) and Buriti Oil, along with Tamanu Oil, are all proving popular too.

I would definitely add the Sun Tanning Essential Oil Blend to the carrier oil of your choice.

      With love, Rachel x x x

Your “read more” is not working on the Health News page.

    1. Hi Margaret, lovely to hear from you. Thanks for pointing out the issue. I have emailed the developer, so hopefully it’ll be working again soon. In the meantime, you will find books worth of health info at https://www.wilddigital.co.uk… Thanks again.
